The railway companies that signed the European Charter for Development of Social Initiatives in Stations to meet in Sofia 14th “Gare Européenne et Solidarité” Steering Committee scheduled for 16 September will offer the chance to discuss immigration and the effects of migration on stations in the more important European railway networks.

The European railway companies that signed the European Charter for Development of Social Initiatives in Stations will meet in Sofia and thereby have the chance to discuss the best ways to ensure they all adopt the same procedure to manage this phenomenon throughout these 13 railway networks and open a roundtable with institutions.

An interesting meeting with Bulgarian associations operating in the field of social hardships is also planned. Finally, the new Preamble to the European Charter amending the former text will be formalised at this Steering Committee, thereby obliging those involved to make more commitment in active cooperation.

Swedish station owner Jernhusen , which signed the European Charter on 6 September 2015, will also take part for the first time ever.

The European Network of Solidarity was established in Rome in 2008 when the European Charter for Development of Social Initiatives in Stations was signed by five rail companies – including Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane – and currently entails 13 companies committed to fighting social hardship in stations.

This cooperation led to establishment of “Gare Européenne et Solidarité”, a European network of enterprises operating in the rail business with Gruppo FS Italiane as President alongside French company SNCF.
